Our Littering Street Sign & Garbage in Our Community...

As you may have seen in the front entrance on Steeplechase Lane, someone [or more than one person] scratched the letters and numbers off of our new "Do Not Litter" sign.

We've contacted the Director of General Services & Facility Management Department; he is removing the sign, and ordering our community a new one. The new sign will be placed in another area of the neighborhood; not at a bus stop.

One of our dedicated neighbors went to the bus stop one morning to ask the children if they saw who defaced the sign. The children did not share any specific names, but they alluded to knowing who damaged the sign.

This cannot happen again. Our community will NOT be terrorized by vandals and those adults or children that think it's amusing.

Some suggestions to help find a resolution to this problem are to have a meeting with Chief Patterson. Also, Lieutenant Rabel shared with us some "Stop Littering - Tips for Kids" brochures to share with the children . We're brainstorming on the best way to distribute these brochures so they too don't become litter!

If you have any suggestions to combat this issue of vandalism and littering, please share your thoughts in the comments section below!

Thank you, Steeplechase Neighbors!
